Motivational Monday: Personal Demons

Our personal demons are our obsessions and fears, chronic illnesses, or common problems like depression, anxiety, and addiction.  When we try to fight against or repress our personal demons, they actually gain and develop resistance.  By facing them, we are addressing them instead of running away from them.  We are nurturing the shadow part of ourselves, so that the energy caught in the struggle transforms into a positive protective force. If we don’t face our personal demons, our personal struggles, we will hold onto an inner conflict we can never win.  Our inner conflict will only become more powerful and monstrous as we either openly battle them or remain ignorant of their undercover operations.

For most of us, the word “demon” has a negative connotation.  But “demon” has not always had such a bad reputation.  Demon is derived from the Greek work daemon or daimon, a term that originally referred to a person’s guiding spirit.  The Greek daemon was a divine creature, a guiding spirit to be trusted and relied upon.  When we learn to meet and feed our personal demons with love and compassion, we can transform our demons into a deamon, a guiding spirit, an ally, a protector.

Wishing you peace and wellbeing as you transform your personal demons into an a guiding spirit.

PS: Remember to hold the ones you love just a little closer and tighter this week (without expectations).
